曾有人問我,名牌為什麼貴?當然,部分原因是因為它是名牌,但個人來說,它貴在剪裁。Mix & Match可以變化出不同造型,但不能改變cutting。1980年代,有人厭倦了花花世界的紛亂,就來個反樸歸真,他們就是Antwerp Six。
Antwerp Six是六位畢業於The Royal Academy of Fine Art (Antwerp)的時裝設計師,包括:Ann Demeulemeester、Dries Van Noten、Dirk Bikkembergs、Walter Van Beirendonck、Dirk Van Saene、Marina Yee。再加上Martin Margiela,他們就成了引領low-key style的先鋒。所謂low-key style,就是脫離色彩的影響,將重點放在衣服的細節上,服裝的顏色都是單一色調,但布料會來自重組的衣服,所以會看到明顯的縫接位或破損的角位。以Martin Margiela為例,他會利用古舊的薄紗,以及購自跳蚤市場的拼布patchwork,進行設計,並將拉鏈等素材安排在布料表面。有傳媒將他的設計定性為Deconstruction。他本人並不同意:”I don’t see the idea of “deconstruction”, When I slash down old or new clothes to transform them I do not believe that I am destroying them, but bringing them back to life in a different way.” 當時於1997年的他正為Hermes進行設計。
